Course Description
This 0.5 CEU (NCRA)/5.0 hour (IL core) course introduces the reporter to new discoveries in the physiology of obesity that may be at the core of obesity lawsuits: (1) obesity may be a physiological disease, (2) appetite is governed by complex communications between the hypothalamus in the brain, the gut and the central nervous system, (3) fat is a very active endocrine organ that acts differently in the obese state compared to the lean state and (4) researchers are uncovering the links through which obesity contributes to increased health risks.
